Assimi Goïta

Assimi Goïta is a Malian Army officer who led the military junta formed after the August 2020 overthrow of President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta. He became President of the Transition and Head of State in May 2021 and continued to be identified in that role by Malian official materials and a CIA leadership listing in 2026.
