Development and club career
Onuachu joined FC Midtjylland's academy from FC Ebedei in 2012 and progressed to the Danish club's first team. Midtjylland records 74 goals in 181 matches during his association with the club through 2019, when he moved to KRC Genk.
Recognition in Belgium and move to Trabzonspor
At Genk, Onuachu won the 2020-21 Belgian Cup and received recognition including the Belgian Golden Shoe, a top-scorer title and Professional Footballer of the Year. After a subsequent period with Southampton, the English club announced an agreement for his transfer to Trabzonspor in June 2025; the Turkish Football Federation later recorded his Trabzonspor contract as running from July 2025 to June 2028.
Nigeria international career
Onuachu scored an opening-minute winner for Nigeria against Egypt in a March 2019 friendly in Asaba. CAF later named him among Nigeria's forwards in the final squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
