Ndidi was born in Lagos on 16 December 1996. Leicester City's account of his early career says he began with Nathaniel Boys in Nigeria before moving to Genk, where he developed from a central defender into a defensive midfielder.

Leicester City announced an agreement to sign Ndidi permanently from Genk in January 2017. He started in Leicester's 1-0 victories over Chelsea in the 2021 FA Cup final and Manchester City in the 2021 FA Community Shield. By July 2024, the club credited him with 273 appearances, 17 goals and three team honours during his Leicester tenure: the FA Cup, FA Community Shield and Championship.
Nigeria international career
After representing Nigeria at under-17 and under-20 level, Ndidi received his first senior call-up in October 2015 and later played at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. CAF described him as Nigeria's captain during an AFCON 2025 group-stage match against Tunisia, although the reviewed evidence does not establish that he continued as captain as of 19 August 2026.
Beşiktaş and wider background
Ndidi joined Beşiktaş in August 2025 on a three-year agreement with an option for a fourth season, and the Turkish Football Federation records a contract start date of 7 August 2025.
